GovBot Public Lands & Wildfire Perimeters service
This host runs the read-only service behind GovBot Public Lands & Wildfire Perimeters. It retrieves records from three fixed public agency map services and reports the source, record dates, retrieval time and what remains unknown.
For what the product does and how to use it, read the product guide. Policies: Privacy · Terms.
Runtime service and plugin availability are separate. A reachable service endpoint does not mean the plugin is available in ChatGPT. The plugin is in preparation and has not been submitted or published in any OpenAI directory. The planned OpenAI listing name is GovBot Public Lands & Wildfire.
Runtime endpoint
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint for this service is https://lands-api.govbot.ai/mcp. No account, sign-in, API key, payment or subscription is required. The service writes nothing back to any source.
Five read-only tools
get_land_manager_at_point- BLM Surface Management Agency record at a public research point.
get_protected_areas_at_point- PAD-US records at or near a public research point.
search_protected_areas- PAD-US records matching a name, state or category.
list_active_fire_perimeters- Current NIFC WFIGS perimeter records in a state or around a public point.
get_fire_perimeter- One selected perimeter record with its geometry and incident record dates.
Input limits
Every tool uses a closed input schema:
- Point coordinates; PAD-US point radius up to 10 km.
- Current fire perimeter radius up to 300 km.
- Names of 2–100 characters.
- State as a postal abbreviation or FIPS code.
- Result limit up to 100; cursor up to 100000.
Inputs cannot carry URLs, SQL or agency credentials.
Public sources
- Bureau of Land Management, national Surface Management Agency map service: https://gis.blm.gov/arcgis/rest/services/lands/BLM_Natl_SMA_Cached_without_PriUnk/MapServer/1. Agency map data, not cadastral, title or mineral estate records. The source publishes no clear edit date, so results report it as unknown.
- USGS GAP, PAD-US Manager Name feature service: https://services.arcgis.com/v01gqwM5QqNysAAi/arcgis/rest/services/Manager_Name_PADUS/FeatureServer/0. Database version and last-edit date come from live layer metadata. Records overlap.
- NIFC, WFIGS Current Interagency Fire Perimeters: https://services3.arcgis.com/T4QMspbfLg3qTGWY/arcgis/rest/services/WFIGS_Interagency_Perimeters_Current/FeatureServer/0. Provisional operational records; NIFC metadata.
- BLM official data standard policy: https://www.blm.gov/policy/im2026-022.
Caching and provenance
Source responses are held in bounded, transient process memory and cleared on expiry or process restart. Fire records are cached up to 2 minutes; land query records up to 10 minutes; layer metadata up to 24 hours, except fire layer metadata up to 1 minute. Every result reports its retrieval and cache provenance.
Boundaries
Results are not title, legal boundary, appraisal, right-of-entry, access or closure determinations, and not evacuation, alert, navigation, forecast or safety information. A missing fire perimeter never means an area is safe or a fire has ended. An unavailable source is reported as an error. In an emergency call 911 and follow local officials.
